Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, as known by many people, is the spin-off of Bubblegum Crisis made a few years back. I haven't seen the original, but I have heard 2040 is in many ways better. There are also other series such as Bubblegum Crash and the AD Police that haven't quite made it as good as 2040. Now most people look at this series in a dim light, due to it's appearance. Four girls in fancy suits fighting robots. Where have we heard of this before? Kind of reminds me of Sailor Moon. 2040 is nothing like Sailor Moon. At a first glance maybe.

Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 starts off with a girl named Linna. She has come to Tokyo looking for a job, hoping to join a team called the Night Sabers. The Night Sabers are a group of females fighting rogue boomers. A boomer is a robot the assists humanity, doing simple tasks like cleaning streets, waitressing and manufacturing products. Once in a while a boomer goes rogue (out of control) and starts to mutate and become harmful. Thus the Night Sabers enter and destroy the boomers core. So Linna wants to join, but she doesn't know where to start. So, her first day in Tokyo, she has an encounter with a motorcyclist that has made her drop her food. So she chases after her hoping to catch her, she comes pretty close surprisingly. Linna is there to introduce us to 2040 and what it's all about. Later she finds out the motorcyclist is really Priss, a famous singer and also a member of the Night Sabers. So Linna joins the team later on. We then get introduced to the other Night Sabers. Nene, an undercover AD Police officer and Sylia, the Night Sabers leader. You might have recognized Sylia from the previous series, Bubblegum Crisis, she was the leader of the team back then, same as now. But she has gone under a major makeover since then. Now, you might be wondering what makes the Night Sabers so special. It's their hard suits. Suits made of metal that come with powerful weapons. They later find out that the hard suits are actually boomers. So there you have it. Of coarse, like most series, there are many secrets and mysteries to uncover later on.

I watched 2040 in dubbed, yes that's right. The crappiness known as dubbed has made it's way to Bubblegum Crisis, but I found that the dubbed version is not bad. The art is quite good, as well as the music. I actually loved the music. They had good character devoplement throughout the whole series, no character was left out. Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 is actually a surprisingly good series. The only thing wrong, was the ending. The ending was good, but it could have been better if it showed you a little bit of an aftermath. Instead, you get to hear Priss's shitty broken record singing. But oh well, you can't always get a perfect 10, right?

7/10
