Digimon
By Lyndonimus 28th Apr 04 Now this film needs no introduction, I'm sure most of you have been accosted by the TV series due to younger siblings so i'll give a brief overview of what Digimon is. Digimon are digital monsters from a digital world, something bad has happened and the digital world is merging with the real world. So the 'digi destined' are given Digimon to try and save the day. The animation is slick combining 3d effects with 2d animation for various scenes throughout the film. This is no epic manga so I didnt expect much from the animation but I was pleasantly surprised by the cartoon style and how it worked with the film. It is a continuation of the series (not that you *need* to know the series) and it follows the previous digidestined, and the present ones. This cool plot always makes me wish the Internet is really like it is in the film. Its a great feel good buddy movie suitible for kids and some cool action scenes for adults (me). I'm not going to lie, not everyone will enjoy this film as much as I did as I'm sure not everyone is into Digimon, but I shall say this, is that plotwise it kicks Pokemon all over the shop. As I said before, the animation holds its own throughout the whole film with great battle scenes and no reused cells (common in the series). Digimon is a film on many levels, it addresses every issue of the internet almost sumblinamaly, its unreal! Now it is a corny kiddy movie, so beware if you dislike the calling out names of 'special moves' of gigantic monsters. Plot is very unrealistic, and cheap. But these in essence make it what Digimon is and I love it for that very reason ^_^. Peace people.
