Full Metal Panic! is a great show. I admit I don't like a lot of the new anime these day but FMP! Is just that good. GONZO did a great job this time, and I've always liked WOWOW's work, (Vandread, Ayashi No Ceres).

Sergeant Sagara Sousuke is assigned to protect Chidori, a high school student from terrorists. He doesn't know why terrorists would be after such a girl, as she has no importance except that she's beautiful. So Sousuke has to follow Chidori around 24/7 to ensure that she's safe. (Sound like a stalker?) You can almost guarantee that this will prove more difficult for Sousuke then any normal mission he'd be assigned. Sousuke has no sense what-so-ever about women, which will ensure many laughs. I'm sure you can already tell this is gonna be used to death, as all anime sometimes does with their plots, but they do a good job on not overusing such things, which saves the show. Later it gets more serious when Chidori learns she's not all that normal, and we find she's more than just a pretty face. (Spoiler? No. It's quite obvious that she's not just hot, although that would be a good reason for me to kidnap her..). Even the more serious points of FMP! are enjoyable. Although at times it feels FMP! tries to pack a little bit of everything (romance, action, comedy, ect), it doesn't feel at all too bunched up. Hell, even the FILLER is good! How many shows can you say that about?

The OVA, (Fumoffu), is also pretty good. Although is has no serious points at all, the humor it has is pretty damn funny. It is reminiscent of Abenobashi Mahou Shotengai, if any of you have seen, (or a tamer FLCL). A nice addition especially if you want to kick back and just watch something that will make you laugh, without worrying about stupid plot lines. That kind of show is a rare breed you know. FMP! is not big on mech, as it would seem, it follows the relationship of Chidori and Sousuke more closely, so if you're looking for a lot of mech battle type thing, FMP! isn't the best choice. I feel like I'm rambling.

If you want something fun and light, FMP! is a great choice. Great art, music, the works. If you liked this I would recommend maybe Martian Successor Nadesico, as they share some of the same qualities.
