By Kaede 26th Aug 04 Okay, this is THE best anime series in my opinion.. but anyway.. Miaka Yuuki is a regular 15 year old Japanese girl studying hard for exams. One day in the library, she find a strange book. A book that when the first page is turned, the reader is pulled into the story. Miaka and her friend Yui are pulled in. They are soon in Ancient China, where they are saved from slave traders by a young man with blue hair and a shining red symbol on his forehead. So begins the anime.. Miaka is later made Priestess of Susaku, one of the four gods of the cardinal directions. The young man with the blue hair is Tamahome, one of her seven celestial warriors she must gather. Once gathered, a ceremony can be performed in which Miaka summons the beast god and is granted three wishes. The plot thickens when Yui, after leaving the book for a short time, is forced to return and faces hardship in a distant land from the Konan empire where Miaka is. She is found by a blonde-haired, blue-eyed warrior of Seiryuu, the guardian god of the Kutou empire which has been at war with the Konan empire. Yui becomes the Priestess of Seiryuu and vies with Miaka to find the celestial warriors of her god and summon Seiryuu before Miaka can summon Susaku. This anime has it all. It has adventure, humour, romance, a bit of terror, fantasy and demons.. everything! The characters are all so varied and there are so many of them! Some of them are even dead when you meet them! The Susaku celestial warriors are pretty much all men, and pretty good-looking, or good-looking hunks of beefcake as Miaka would put it, so for all you women out there, take note. This anime is currently 65 episodes long. 52 episodes of the series, with three oavs. The first OAV is only 3 episodes long and pretty confusing. The second is also a bit confusing and 6 episodes long. The third OAV, in my opinion the best, is only 4 episodes long and is set farther in the future. Out of a ten point scale, this anime would definitely be an 11 or 12.. possibly more.. once you watch the first tape, ie four episodes, you are hooked. Same goes with the manga series, first volume and you're hooked. I have hooked so many people on to the series, just try it, I can almost guarantee you'll like it! No da!!!!!! (if you want to know about this.. read the mangas.. hee hee)
