Episode 1 - Gain and Gainer
Welcome to the former Russian Republic, comrade! As you are about to see the Earth is, yes, once again NOT in it's happy place. Yeah. It seems every year I review at least a few series which has Earth not in a good place. But at least they take the time to do a musical dancing sequence during the opening credits!
Now where were we? It started with the "cataclysm", which is blamed on human's advancements.
Because of this "cataclysm" people gave the Earth back to nature, and locked themselves away in places called "Domeopolis" while they waited for the Earth to mend itself. But years and years have passed, and still people are still locked away in Domes. The world is supposed to still be "healing", but is this the truth or is it a lie? And considering these so called "domes" are run by private corporations, who have become (in essence) their own private "governments" within the confines of their own domes perhaps there is more than sufficient reason for to keep the true status of the world a secret.

It is in this restrictive environment that a top gamer has found himself thrown into prison, accused of "Exodus" (unauthorized escape outside of the domes). Here, he meets a man named Gain, who once resided in a Dome that vanished two years prior. So what could a man who should be dead do for a kid who is guilty of nothing? Perhaps he can help stage a little escape, but even if they can escape the prison where can they go? Perhaps a real exodus is called for... but first they should do a little "shopping" first.
"Buy" a new Overman (this world's version of mecha) and name it "King Gainer"... oh, and don't forget the discount today on hostages in the form of one Princess Ana Medaiya. That is if they can survive engagement with enemy forces!

Episode 2 - Pay Me Back
Capturing the strange mysterious Overman now named King Gainer was planned.
Kidnapping Princess Medaiya... well, NOT exactly a kidnapping since she seems quite willing to get the heck out of the domes. As for the Exodus? It's on. But what is the purpose of Exodus? Apparently it's some sort of "quest" to reach a place called "Yapan" (most likely the former country of Japan)... which isn't so hard since this is Siberia, and Japan is not too far off from Siberia.
But this won't be easy. Siberia Domeopolis' powers that be are totally against "exodus" to Yapan (Japan), and it seems they're against it for obvious reasons. They are corpo scum after all.
After the battle against the forces of the Siberian Domeopolis (codenamed the Siberian Railway Patrol), the "City Units" are in full retreat from Domeopolis headed for Yapan (Japan), and considering they‘re dragging a massive "Convoy" behind them it‘s not going to be a fast exodus... especially since they're "importing" their own housing developments for the trip... how weird is that!

Speaking of "exodus", of course once Gainer learns that his new "pal" Gain is an Exodus Specialist that doesn't exactly float his Overman. Of course if they can't get along (Gain and Gainer) they could abandon Gainer... but somehow that just doesn't happen.
Too bad there is just no time for that since they are about to come under attack by a new Overman codenamed Rush Rod, piloted by one Yassaba Jin (leader of the Siberian Railway Patrol). Gainer, who somehow gets control of King Gainer again, ends up battling it but since he's not exactly used to full out combat in this Overman he is now piloting he finds himself pressed hard in this battle!

Episode 3 - Explosion! Overskill
As the City Units continue to travel towards Yapan (Japan), someone has been sent to "save" the non-captured Princess... which is kind of useless since she's not even a captive to begin with!
But perhaps this is more for said "savior" to have her meeting with Gain.
Oh, and Rush Rod makes a reappearance and once again causes problems, this time with it's Overskill that has the ability to "stop" time itself! Nothing but trouble can come from this confrontation.

Episode 4 - Taste of Victory is Taste of Kiss
Ah, the road can be long and boring. Maybe a boxing tournament will eliminate the boredom.
And maybe it'll provide the cliché plot point of having Gain/Gainer fight to kiss one of the main female characters (name : Sara Kodama).
Then again maybe it'll provide the obsessed Yassaba another chance to have at it against the City Units, and ultimately King Gainer. And maybe that'll get Gainer that kiss since he's not very good with his fists (but then again Episode 2 kind of proved that already!)

Episode 5 - Eyes Shining in Siberia
Just when you think Yassaba is nothing more than pure obsessive compulsive aggression against the City Units he suddenly finds a reason to change his ways. While being chased down he is saved by a fortune teller girl named Afar, and in turn he becomes her protector which leads to an all out three way battle against Yassaba and his new Overman, Gauli Squad and King Gainer.
Who knows? Maybe the experience will make Yassaba a better man... then again... ah. Nuff said'. Don't want to spoil too much for you.

King Gainer Breakdown the 1st
What's Hot? - Eh... there is merit in this, and it's quite watchable.
The concept of corporations running giant Dome cities and holding a tight grip on people, keeping in the dark about the true status of their "world" and people seeking to break free of that restrictive "world" has it's merits. In fact as long as the series doesn't cop out halfway through or near the end we have a good view that should hold solid as long as things don't go weird before the halfway point.
One thing I do have definite pluses for on this is that... I can't exactly "peg" this in a category.
Large "city" sized things being moved in "exodus"... sorta like Battlestar Galactica if you think of it one way... but then again they did flee their dome city so it's sort of like Logan's Run... uh... ah, it's original enough for me so you shouldn't have to worry about saying "I've seen this before" because I sure as heck haven't seen this before and I've seen a lot!

What's Not? - Nothing. This is solid enough and I have great big expectations for this series.

Moments to Remember? - Eh? For a series that is downright action packed and interesting it has the most cheery and happy opening credits I've ever seen on a series like this. Now that's something I didn't expect!

What to Ignore? - Nothing for now. The series is just plain solid.

Overall? - Now this isn't what I expected, and I'm quite surprised about it.
It's watchable, it's original but you can kind of make faint links to things though not really since there isn't enough there to make a solid link... for instance the Battlestar Galactica reference... sure there's big "city units" on the move, reminding me of the Galactica fleet, but that's about it on that connection.

I recommend you check this out. It's a good view, and as the series progresses I expect bigger and better things as the series goes onward and onward. Check it out. Rent or buy. But make sure you watch it, it's quite good as you'll see.
