After an amaxing 5 seasons, 4 movies, and live musicals which are still running in Japan, Sailor Moon is UNarguably the most popular anime. Sailor Moon was also the first anime to air, mainstream, on Cartoon Network, and for many, Sailor Moon was the anime that got them 'hooked'.

Sailor Moon, ultimately about Cosmos, manifested through the Sailor senshi(soldiers) and Chaos, manifested through the various villians has gathered fans of all ages and both genders. The oh, so unforgettable series often makes referrences to Greek mythology. For example, Saturn is the planet of destruction, and so, Sailor Saturn's element is death and revolution.

Here's how I'd rate the 5 seasons:

Sailor Moon (1st season)- 7.5/10 The season that started it all... a bit boring at times though

Sailor Moon R- 8.5/10 A very good storyline! Introduces Sailor Pluto(my fav. character) and Chibiusa, who actually doesn't exist in our time.. she's the child of the Prince and Princess of the moon from the Silver Millenium. She managed to travel back in time, to our time, by using Pluto's powers (her element is time).

Sailor Moon S- 9.5/10 Perhaps the best season in this series... it was really funny at certain parts, and the action scenes were fantastic.. introduces the Outer senshi- Uranus, Neptune, Saturn.

Sailor Moon SuperS- 6/10 Weird. Focuses too much on Chibiusa... Kinda boring... the SuperS manga was much better though

Sailor Moon Sailor Stars- 9/10 A really intense season. The action scenes are fantastic and the final showdown is a must-see.

Sailor Moon is available on DVD, VHS, and Laserdisc (rare, though, but wonderful esp the artwork). I would suggest buying it subbed though... the dub sucks.
