Shingetsutan Tsukihime

Do you believe in vampires? Well, that's one of the many questions that pops into my head when I think of Shingetsutan Tsukihime. This anime is based on the stories of vampires and demons. I can't say this it has anything special compared to most. The weird Japanese name translated is Moon Princess. So let not waste time and get on with the review, or better yet stop reading here and watch the anime and then come back.

Well, this all begins with a young boy, (how predictable). So this boy has an amazing power that most people don't see. His power is that he can see red lines all over his surroundings. Big deal, that power sounds so weak it can’t even beat Shinji's (Neon Genesis Evangelion) whining. But on the contrary, this boy's, named Shiki Tohno, ability to see these red lines grant him the power to kill anything on command. It's because these red lines show a crack in life. If he would ever cut along the red lines, it would totally destroy that object. Still think his power is crippling? He got his power when he was separated from the Tohno family and was sent to live with a close relative. Shiki, who is terrified from seeing these lines, is unable to manage his emotions. He runs to find someone to help him. In a green field he meets this red haired lady, he calls her teacher. This teacher presents Shiki with a pair of glasses that will stop him from seeing these red lines. After Shiki puts on his glasses, he never sees the red lines again and hopes to live a normal life. Sadly this never came true, moments later Shiki is called to live in the Tohno house with his sister because his father had just died. At this point, you're probably wondering how this anime deals with vampires. Well, be patient and take a breather, as I'll tell you how it relates to vampires. As Shiki lives with his sister and goes to high school, he also meets a blonde haired lady named Arcueid. This name reminds me of Hellsing, but anyway, before I get side tracked, Arcueid suspects that Shiki killed her and she's supposedly a vampire. This is all I'm going to say since the rest is going to spoil the show, so happy watching.

I think Shingetsutan Tsukihime is pretty good; the theme song isn't bad for a song without lyrics. The drawings aren't bad either, and the storyline is pretty good but could have some improvements. I think this anime had some potential of being one of those top 10 anime, but sometimes it can be a little boring. Being only 12 episodes long isn't too bad to watch, but I think it could have been a little better if it was a little longer.

Finally, the conclusion. If you are into the type of anime with vampires, I'm pretty sure you won't be dissatisfied, but don't expect it to be one of the best anime. Usually keep a fresh mind till it ends. That's the true way to watch any show or movie in general.
