What fanboy hasn't wished to be Tenchi? Who wouldn't want all those beautiful women vying for your heart? Strangely, Tenchi doesn't. The fool. Even if Tenchi is a dope, his show is one of the most entertaining animes ever.

When Tenchi stupidly visits the shrine his grandfather forbade him to go to, he pulls free a light sword which consequently releases the demon, Ryoko. Ryoko really wants this sword, as it houses gems which are her power source. Not only that, but a princess from planet Jurai is determined to capture and/or execute the newly awakened Ryoko, who'd wronged her in the past! After a heated space battle in which both women's ships are wrecked, they end up living with Tenchi, and they slowly fall for him.

Ryoko and Princess Ayeka aren't the only ones. Ayeka's sister also ends up at the home. Over time, a galaxy police officer, a genius scientist, and the most marketable cutesy critter ever devised each end up at the house for different reasons. You guessed it, they all swoon over Tenchi.

This show is about two things: the competition for Tenchi's love (with Ayeka and Ryoko being the two main contenders) and Tenchi defending the girls from villains out of their shady pasts with..well, I won't ruin it for you.

Tenchi Muyo is a very nice looking show, visually. It's also a show that gives you a personal connection with a character, and you find yourself hoping she ends up with him. If you don't like any of the girls (what's wrong with you?) you can always pity Tenchi's predicament.

It's funny, touching, action-packed, and has the only cute, cuddly animal character I've ever seen in an animal that never made me want to induce vomiting.

Low points? Not many. It's a short series (only 13 episodes). Plus, there are many questions left unanswered at the end. Granted, there is a continuation in the works that will answer these questions, but I can only wait for so long. In the meantime, I'll be happy to watch Ryoko's (VERY foward) attempts to win Tenchi's love.

As a note to parents, this series has a tiny amount of blood, frequent but mild cursing, and nudity...boy does it have nudity. Ryoko refuses to wear a bathing suit or a towel when she takes a public bath (unless you see the Cartoon Network version. Sheesh.)

9/10
