Tenchi Muyo - Volume 2
By Rikustar 1st Nov 04 This volume continues straight on from the end of volume 1. For those who had not seen volume 1 (*gasp* faint in shock) at the end in Episode 5 - Kagato Fires off that huge laser blast to counteract tenchi's light hawk wings energy ball from the Soja (his ship). In the aftermath, Ryoko escapes and assumes he is dead upon finding a cloth his his blood on it with Tenchi nowhere in sight. Episode 6 - We Need Tenchi! This volume begins Sasami (still on Earth) running to Funaho (tree) to transport herself to her ship. After this we see Ryoko's return to Ryo-ohki with the sheet in hand and following a minor argument with Ayeka the three of the girls decide to kill Kagato in revenge. At this time we find out that tenchi survived (you knew he had to survive!) by the actions of Asaka and Kamidake the guadians of Ayeka through a forcefield, herby protecting him from the void of space. At this time we are introduced to Tsunani, Goddess of Jurai. Cuttscene of Tenchi receiving Wings of the light hawk. The girl trio reach the main doorway passage to Kagato. Mihoshi transported to another dimenion due to mishap with the control cube. Here we meet the greatest (and cutest in child/gorgeous in adult form)scientific genius in the universe... Washu! The rest of the episode continues with some more hilarity (AKA more humourous parts)and much facefulting due to Washu until the enivatable ruturn of Tenchi just in time to rescue Ryoko from certain death. A high paced fight, until Kagato atempts to blow Tenchi into dust with an energy blast which is blocked by Tenchi's light hawk wings that transform into armor and a sword which he slices Kagato in two also ironically slicing the ship in two also. Episode 7 - The night before the Carnival This episode is based mainly on Ryoko and Ayeka in their personal battle to win Tenchi. It begins when Sasami tricks Ryoko into believing in Shojo comics being real and using them as 'guides' to win Tenchi, Ayeka quickly follows and soon they are reading the entire 'libary' for ideas, Tenchi in Washu's lab for experimenting, Mihoshi somehow mandering and screwing up her computer. Ryoko and Ayeka team up to get rid of Mihoshi, a doublecross and an amusing cheap trick. A nightmare involving a future enemy and the rountined fight between Ryoko and Ayeka restarts and the return/crash of Mihoshi's shuttle. (no preview of next episode) NEW INTRO THEME!!!! YAAAHHHH!!!!! (P.S This song absolutly rocks. Play and maximum volume on the TV or if playing by DVD-ROM switch on all speakers then put on Max volume) Episode 8 - Hello Baby The episode starts of with Ayeka recieving a call from Tenchi's aunt about Sasami returning after staying there for a while. Tenchi's aunt appears to return Sasami and then again shortly afterwards to drop Tarou (the baby) off. Mayhem ensues as the crew try and take care of the baby and pain is often afficted to the them. Ryo-ohki the worst being twirled around and pounded into the sofa while investigating the crying made by Tarou. Then it's Ryoko and her hair is yanked back while giving Tarou a flying ride on her back. Ayeka due to Tarou's unitensional invention 'accidentally' ingests baby food. Everyone tires out and Tarou wanders into Washu's lab and pulls on her hair getting her attention which results in Washu looking after Tarou that night only to be surprised by Tenchi in the morning. More baby mayhem and again Tarou is looked after Washu causing more flashbacks. Tenchi's aunt returns to pick up Tarou and the rest of the group learn more of Washu's past. Washu reveals of her interest in Tenchi via shifting to an adult form and bickering augument starts. NEW ENDING!!!!! Episode 9 - Sasami and Tsunami The group return to the inn featured in episode 4 because of a phone call inviting them back. They find out the 'invitation' is just a ruse to fix the damage and payback for causing it. Every member save Sasami and sees a ghost-like figure until they meet up in a cupboard and Kashiuto/Yosho tell a story which turns out to be only a story. However, everyone is still jumpy until notice it is only Sasami with Ryo-ohki sitting atop when the lights are turned on. At this point every calms down a bit until Mihoshi notices Sasami's reflection is not her own but Tenchi and Ayeka realize it is Tsunami's causing sasami to run off into hte night. They search for Sasami and eventually Ayeka finds her sitting by the lake on a boulder. Ayeka explains that she will accept Sasami no matter she is. Tenchi soon joins the pair and says the same thing. As they look at the sunset (Sasami being asleep), Tsunami explains everything to the pair about the past and her connection to Sasami. Eventually, everyone else turns up and they start getting drunk. However, Ayeka is worried as she explains the consequences a Tsunami's connection with Sasami to Ryoko. Tsunami reappears to explain in better way. The two realize that Sasami may not become a serious contender in their seperate quests to win Tenchi. In my humble opinion I believe that this volume is must better than the first one as it has a greater emphasis on the storyline. On a scale of 1 - 5 (Practically perfect - Do not buy even if a penny)I would rate this a 2. This is a must buy, get it from: http://www.anime-on-line.com (P.S Please send any information involving Anime/Manga clubs in the Ipswich area to rianarule@yahoo.co.uk) This is Rikustar signing off.
