Tokyo 2K1 - episode 3By Lyndonimus 24th May 04 Tokyo 2k1 - episode 3 From now on the story does not follow chronological order, it is what I remember when I remember it. No more no less. Needless to say we were well into our trip and ready to explore even more. By now Starbucks had become our second home, a big mistake as we were pissing our money away on pansy coffee, which I would later regret. Oh and we got a photo or the cute ... erm, forgot what they're called, but she worked the till. One morning, we decided to split up, I was alone warndering through Asakusa, what fun. I enjoyed myself alot, I went walking around for hours just looking, and taking odd photo's of whatever took my fancy. Then I came to a long stretch of shops. The entrance was a huge gate [photo A] that led me down a long road with shops on either side. Well after a lengthy walk and two cans of coke later I reached the end which happened to be a big big temple. Heh and to think I didn't know what was here, tourists left right and center, and me one of them hehe. The sun was getting too hot now, I had to go somewhere else. Preferably somewhere cooler. I still had a good few hours before I had to meet up with the other two. What was I todo? There was only one answer... SPEND my money. So my first task was to locate the Mitsubishi Bank, which the nice tour guide type person wrote for me in Japanese. After locating the bank [which of course had air con] I was helped by some guy who showed me what to do to cash my Travellers cheques. 20 minutes later I had over 60,000 Yen in my hands, I was a monster waiting to be unleashed on Ameyoko Alley A short while later I found myself in Ueno The entrance the the alley was around the corner, there would be no browsing for me, I knew what I wanted and I was going to get it. So I strolled through the alley, there was no rush, I knew where I was going and had hours to spare, maybe I'd try my hand at Pachinko or maybe not, 1000 yen was a big investment for a game I'd never played before, no it was a safer bet to get what I had come for. Pitty I had no camera at the time, the jeans [photo B] I wanted were hanging outside, after a quick enquiry I tried on my jeans. I can't describe how I felt I was so happy it was unbelievable. Well after handing out 30,000 yen + tax for my jeans, the guy [who I'd come friends with due to my frequenting of the shop] then asked me if I'd like them to be cut! I mean come on! 200£ Yen Jeans just cut like that?! I think not! Anyway the reason I bought them was cos they were the only ones in stock, and I was not about to find nother pair that was my length anytime soon. So I was about to depart when something else caught my eye. A pastel pink Evisu jumper, how could I not buy it?! So again I shelled out 3000 yen for it and was on my way. Happy bunny me ^^v. See, I'm a dangerous person with money, when I got back to the hotel I pleaded with Nam and Himesh to not leave me alone with moeny ever again, but I have to say that didn't stop me spending money like water. [The playtest] Well this was Japan, I wasn't about to go home without playing games my old pals at home havn't and wont for a while! Yea, I'm evil, so sue me ^^v. First up on the list was Devil May Cry. I stumbled to this game by accident, I wasn't expecting it and was over the moon when I saw the joypads were plugged in! So, I spent an hour running around corridoors slicing and shooting puppet like enemies, the graphics were very slick! This game was just awesome. The blur effects, the lighting effects, even the morphing lion type boss was done perfectly. Hehe, I completed the trial over and over, hey, I wanted my cake and ate it! Next up was the eagerly awaited Final Fantasy X. Yea I dabbled a little, but I can't really say much excecpt the graphics rock, the voice overs are cool, characters great and the battles are sweet ^^v. This coupled with no load times due to the HDD, made the gaming evern better. Heh I even took piccies ^^v. to be continued... next - More games, the Amano Gallery and much more...
