Mario Golf

If we are talking about the PSP then it’s either Tiger Woods or Hot Shots Golf. But we’re not talking about the PSP (or Sony), we’re talking Nintendo. And for Nintendo it’s gotta be Mario Golf. Sure, I seem to treat Tiger Woods like a foreign disease of golfing video games but why not! If he wants me to review his game he can send it to me just like when the people behind Dragonball Z : Shin Budokai (PSP) sent me their game for review (and I gave it a good score).

(Or when the people over at Disney were supposed to send me Spectrobes DS for review but never did… gee, thanks for nothing

people.) Say, just curious, but whatever happened to that game you were supposed to sent me to review people who worked for Disney promoting the game? You said you sent it and yet I never got it… wonder why.

Mario Golf. If you’ve already played the Advance version of the game then this game should look familiar, it’s a lower level version of Advance Tour (thus a “prequel” to Advance Tour as it were). It doesn’t have nearly as many bells and whistles as Advance Tour, but that is par for the course as this is a Game Boy Color game (go figure). Control seems less accurate, gameplay seems abit lower rez, and there is

less to do but that doesn’t mean it’s not worthy of playing.

It’s got it’s own quirk and there is enough familiar elements (in a less pretty package) to make fans of the GBA version consider this for their traveling pack of GBA golf games. In fact why not? As a companion piece to the GBA version it has it’s appeal and if you’re just looking for another good solid game of golf to take with you for your GBA SP this is it.

You’re brand new to world of golfing when you arrive at the country club (and the game). Slowly but surely you’ll learn how to play (through both active gameplay and some practice sessions taught by pros over at the courses you can visit before playing. Otherwise it’s the same as always (tournaments and one on one) though you really won’t see the large bells and whistles add ons until the GBA version (Advance Tour). But as far as beginning down and dirty basic golf it’s good to go.
If you can get ahold of it? Go for it. It’s a good companion to the more advanced Advance Tour (GBA), so you have two golf games for the GBA SP the next time you go traveling and desire a little 9 to 18 hole enjoyment while on the road.
3 holes in one out of 5.
