By David Rasmussen 27th Jan 08 Did you miss how I didn’t review this title for a few months? No? Me neither. But return to it we have, and we find that the title has no more improved than Sonic X (which has backpedaled back into 1 out of 5 doldrums). In this story (which is ironic since we’re coming up on Valentine’s Day soon) an extremely bored Triplicate Girl gets taken out on a da(te)y with Bouncing Boy to watch MagnoBall between Metropolis and Gotham City… well, only ONE of the three goes (which will become awfully awkward if one ends up marrying Bouncing Boy, one marries Superman, and one becomes a lesbian). The second of the trio goes out with Superman (because by law we can no longer call that strapping young lad Superboy under court order… thanks, the Estate of whoever created Superboy, thanks a lot!), and the third is left behind to continue the boredom of monitor duty… which doesn’t last as this comic is about to flip you the Starfinger (and yes, that is about as nasty as it sounds). Starfinger, you see, is hot for Triplicate Girl (who isn’t) and he wants her… any one of three of her… so he tangles with Superman, the League and so on trying to get each one in turn. So in the end he (who has an unamazing secret you probably could guess all on your own) is defeated, and suddenly one of the three Triplicate girls has a thing for Bouncing Boy… yeah, let’s see if she still feels that way next issue. I bet she would have forgotten all about this by next month. And that is just one of the many reasons this not so exciting, not so incredible, not so anything title is as doomed as Sonic X to languish in low score heck. It would be nice if the writers of these disposable money makers would write something worth spending your money on… but no, they’d rather throw away good pages on bad writing. Bad them. But since this is a valentine’s story, and some love blooms in this issue (just don’t hold your breath on it lasting a long long time) I’m going to be a little kind for the upcoming Valentine’s Day and give this story for lovers 2 blossoming hopes for love out of 5 “They’re so going to forget this issue next issue” downer thoughts.
